Whale Autotrade

Whale autotrade lets Merlin automatically copy large BUY trades from any high-conviction wallet on Polymarket. You don’t pick a specific trader — instead, you set filters (categories, price range, min trade size, copy mode, TP/SL) and Merlin executes whenever a qualifying whale buys in.

How It Works

Merlin streams Polymarket settlements in real time. When a trade meets all of these conditions, it’s classified as a whale signal:

1. Trade size ≥ the global whale floor (set per environment, ~$5,000)
2. Trade side = BUY (sells are ignored)
3. Market price ≤ $0.90 (near-resolved markets are noise)
4. Buyer has a non-empty Polymarket portfolio (filters out fresh / bot wallets)

For each whale signal, Merlin checks every active whale-autotrade config and copies the trade for users whose filters match. Multiple users can copy the same whale buy independently.

Getting Started

Open Whale Autotrade

Use the /whales command or tap ”🐋 Whale Autotrade” from the main menu.

Create a Config

1. Tap ”➕ New Config”
2. Select a wallet — if you have multiple wallets, choose which one will fund whale-autotrade buys
3. Merlin creates a draft config with sensible defaults (Fixed $1.00, min whale trade $10,000, slippage 30%, no categories filter, no TP/SL)
4. Tune the draft — open any setting and adjust to your preference
5. Tap “▶️ Start Whale Autotrade” to activate

Buy Modes

The buy mode controls how much Merlin spends when copying a whale’s buy. Switch between modes from the detail screen. Tap 💵 Buy to set the value for Fixed (USD) or Percent (1–1000%) modes.

Filters

Min Whale Trade

The minimum USD value of the whale’s trade for it to qualify for copy. Must be ≥ the global floor. Default $10,000. This is the most important filter — it controls how “whale-sized” a trade needs to be before you copy it. A higher value means fewer but bigger signals.

Categories

Pick from 8 curated Polymarket categories:

Use 🟩 Select All / 🟥 Clear All to bulk-toggle. Empty selection = all categories (wildcard); the matcher fires on every qualifying whale buy regardless of market tags.

Price Range

Minimum and maximum market price in cents (1–99). Default 1¢–90¢. Narrow this if you want to avoid copies near market resolution.

Slippage

Maximum price slippage tolerated when placing the copy order (1–100%). Default 30%.

​

Take Profit / Stop Loss

Whale-autotrade positions are tracked end-to-end. When you set TP/SL, Merlin automatically exits as soon as the market price hits your threshold.

Presets

Tap ✨ TP/SL Presets on the detail screen to open the preset sub-menu, or pick from the suggestion message Merlin sends right after you create a config:

Custom TP/SL

Tap 🎯 TP or 🛡 SL on the detail screen to set a custom percent. Send none to clear.

Spend Limit

Set a lifetime budget cap in USD. When spent_so_far reaches the limit, Merlin pauses the config and sends you a notification with a deposit link.

• 💰 Spent Limit — tap to set the cap (e.g., $500). Send none to clear.
• 🔄 Reset Spent — clears the running total back to $0 without changing the limit.

Managing Configs

From the My Configs list:

• Manage link on any config — opens the detail screen
• Pause / Resume inline link — flips status without leaving the list
• ⏸️ Pause All / ▶️ Start All — bulk-toggle every config
• 🗑️ Delete All — permanently removes all configs (with confirmation)

From the detail screen:

• ⏸️ Pause / ▶️ Start — toggle status
• ✏️ Rename — give the config a custom name (max 42 chars)
• 🗑️ Delete — permanent removal with confirmation

Auto-Claim

When a whale-autotrade position resolves as a winner, Merlin automatically claims the winnings back to your wallet. No manual action needed.

Insufficient Balance

If your wallet runs out of funds, Merlin pauses the config immediately and the matcher stops firing orders against it. After 1 hour Merlin sends you a notification with a deposit link. After depositing, restart the config manually from the detail screen.

Limits

• Maximum 5 whale-autotrade configs per user (configurable per environment)
• Each config has its own wallet, filters, mode, and TP/SL — no shared state between configs
• The global whale floor is enforced on top of your per-config min-trade — your filter can be more restrictive than the floor, never less
